x11r4 locker and Imake config files

I just tried to build of an X11R4 utility on a 7.2R machine (An RT,
pit-manager). It failed, because the Imake configuration files in the
x11r4 locker have
been modified to look in /usr/athena/X11 for include files and
libraries, instead of where they actually are in 7.2R. The result is
that DEPLIBS contains libraries that don't exist, and the build bombs.

THE X11R4 LOCKER IS USED BY PEOPLE IN THE FIELD, ON NORMAL 7.2R
MACHINES. Indeed, that is how it is INTENDED to be used. It is very,
very anti-social to modify the files in that locker so that it cannot
be used to do builds. If you need to make modifications that will
break under 7.2R, then you'll have to copy the locker and make the
modifications there, or do the modifications in the read-write version
of the locker and remove it from the nightly cloning/backup list.

We have two months before 7.3 goes out into the field. I expect the
x11r4 locker to be fixed so that, before that happens, people can
build X programs on 7.2R machines.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Very peeved,

  jik
