Thanks to John Carr, we've got some minor patches that'll fix up the
timeout problems, and a zwrite bug that can cause it to dump core.
The timeout patches set a 10-second timeout for hostmanager
interactions, and a 30-second timeout for server responses in cases
where HM_TIMEOUT was used before.
