I hope this isn't the whole story. I was under the impression that
the decision to make the NFS fileservers run # and .# cleanups was
made *before* I was given the go-ahead to finish delete.
One of the major advantages of delete is that users really shouldn't
have to worry about it unless they need to recover something. If they
have to run expunge and purge explicitly, then delete is more trouble
than it's worth, and many people will switch back to rm, and files
will continue to be lost accidentally.
John Carr says he's working on a crontab file for the fileservers
which he says will be installed by the end of the summer, supposedly.
Is this correct. Basically, what I'm asking is, "What's the story
here?"
