Subject: 18.80 Subnet (10-219/256 Area) Changes

On Tuesday, 6/2/92, between 10 AM and 12 noon, Transmission will be performing
some Ethernet backbone changes on the 18.80 subnet located in and around
the 10-291A,236,256 area. The purpose of the work is to remove all the
unused transceiver taps in that area and to reroute the backbone loop outside
of the offices and into the corridor.

The movement of the Ethernet backbone will require that the cable splices be
disconnected. This break in the cable will disrupt all MITnet access for the
duration of the work. We will try our best to re-establish network service
as soon as we are able.

A quick list of the areas that will be affected by the subnet outage is:

The K-box in 10-236 (Mac users), the Barker Library terminal room (10-501) and
some additional people on the third floor on building #10.

If there is any conflict with 10 AM to 12 noon time tomorrow, please let me
know. We would like to have the work proceed with as little impact as possible
on the occupants of work area.

					Thanks,

					Errol Morrison
