Please forgive my desperate attempt at levity in the face of tragedy.
Early this morning
(circa 2 am, 20 May) I sucessfully rearranged 49 out of 50 files in new
directories in my account.
One file was relegated to oblivion (apparently - does anyone really
know where socks end up when they
disappear from the washer?). The name of the file, including the path
from my root directory, was
~/latek/neuts/excess/fig.newdes1.ps
or
~/latek/neuts/bootstrap/excess/fig.newdes1.ps
I tried using the "find" utility without success, after verifying that
I was using it correctly by
finding files that I knew existed.
fig.newdes1.ps took me a long time to make -- It was completed last
week, and has been in my account since
Friday (at least). I have been advised that it is probably on the
backup tapes. If you can recover this file
and park it in my root directory I'll do what I can to help refinance
your mortgage at a lower interest rate.
Failing that, you will feel very good for doing me this favor for at
least as long as the transfer takes.
Thanks in advance. If you need more information to find the file, or if
you just want to blow off steam,
my phone is 253 - 7316.
