Well, this is getting really frustrating. I've left the Athena machine
in 3-370 in this video mode:
>H freq.: 48.36kHz, V freq. 60.00Hz, H/V pol.:-/-
...which was listed as the most conservative 1024x768 mode for the
Sympodium in Dave Broderick's email, and it still, *mostly*, doesn't
work.
It doesn't completely not work, though; the screen sometimes flickers on,
sometimes flashes a "out of range" message, but most of the time flashes
a "cable disconnected" message. Even worse, it does the same thing at
640x400 (the standard text mode, seen during boot).
It seems to get better and worse if the cables coming into the switcher
are wiggled, but this could be wishful thinking. Has anyone
checked/replaced the cable going from the Dell to the switcher during all
this?
If we can arrange a time, I'd be very happy to meet someone from AV in
3-370 and put the Athena box through its paces; hopefully we can get this
nailed down once and for all. I'm free most afternoons and early
evenings. (Later today is terrible, though.)
thanks,
andrew
