Hello Dan,

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you. The request you made
apparently bumped between three different groups to the nature of the
request. In any event, making the Windows machine a Linux Athena machine
is not a problem. As it is in a Dorm Cluster there would not be a charge
for it. I will try to get Juan Vargas or Jim Ray to get in touch with
you today and if you identify which system you want to convert to Linux
Athena we'll go ahead and get it done. Again, I apologize for the long
delay in getting back to you....Brian

458157: new full athena?)

Hi,

I submitted this request on 11/04, and there is still no response. The
casetracker consultant says he forwarded this matter to the relevant
people,
but there is still no response. I was wondering if we could get someone
to
examine our request? The Dell computer has been idling over a month in
our
cluster.

I attach the entire Casetracker case to this e-mail.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Dan.

Hi,

I am the graduate student responsible for the Windows and Mac computers
in
the Sidney-Pacific cluster (which also includes an Athena cluster of 2
quickstations and 3 workstation).

We currently have 8 Windows computers in the cluster, which are running
WinAthena, but only 3 Athena workstations. Since Sidney-Pacific is a
dormitory of 700+ students, we thought we could use another Athena
workstation, especially since Athena is running so much software that is
required for coursework and research in various departments.

In fact, you don't even need to install a machine---we would be happy to
have one of the Windows (Dell) machines be added to the existing Athena
cluster. If it becomes an Athena workstation, we will plan for it to
stay
and Athena workstation until it becomes obsolete.

We realize that it's possible to pay for an individual full Athena
machine,
but what we are interested in is adding a machine to a public cluster.
So,
please let us know what you think, and what our options are.

Sincerely,
Dan.
