Hi,

i recently installed athena 9.0 on a SUN machine and am having problems
booting up. here's what happened.

The computer automatically rebooted after installation, and said that it
couldn't open the boot device (i hadn't entered anything for "default boot
device" beceause I wasn't sure what to put). Then the following exchange
happened.

>boot disk0

Boot device: /iommu/sbus/espdma@5,8400000/esp@5,8800000/sd@0,0 File and
args:
Can't open boot device

>boot disk3
Boot device: /iommu/sbus/espdma@5,8400000/esp@5,8800000/sd@3,0 File and
args:
bootblk: can't find the boot program

(I also tried "boot disk3:0" "boot disk3:1" "boot disk3:2" and "boot
disk3:3" because i had 4 partitions (0-3). In all cases, i had the same
error message as "boot disk3" except that it reset the computer before
tyring to boot up. Then I got desperate and tried all sorts of boot
commands, including "boot 0" "boot disk" etc.)

I'm using a non-standard IBM 4 GB Hard drive, so i had to do a custom
installation and partition. I had some problems with partitioning, but
someone else from the hardware hotline helped me out. I sent a few more
e-mails to him about the boot-up issue, but he never responded.

Anyway, do you know what could be happening? And what should I set the boot
device to?

-Albert C.
