Hi,
Recently I noticed that the machine ua.mit.edu in W20-401c was not pinging.
Upon further investigation, it seems that the machine itself is fine, but
it has lost its network connection. I have tested its ethernet wire with
another machine and another jack in the office successfully, so the wire is
not the issue. This means one of two things:
1) The network card on the machine has broken
2) Service has for some reason been disconnected from the wall jack ua was
using
My bet is that it's the wall jack. Its label says either W20-405-1 or
W20-405-2 (I forget which, and didn't have paper to jot it down at the time).
It would be greatly appreciated if you could determine what's happened here
and arrange for service to be restored (or if the machine's net card has
broken, arrange for a replacement). W20-401 is generally open during business
hours (401c is the furthest door on the wall opposite the entrance), and I
can arrange access at other times if needed.
Thanks,
Mitch
