The athena AFS database server paris will go down for a software
upgrade beginning at 1am on the morning of Thursday, 4/18/2002 (note
that this is late Wednesday night). The outage is expected to last
approximately 2 hours. During that time, clients may experience console
messages of the form:

afs: lost contact with volume location server 18.7.1.66 in cell athena.mit.edu

However, all data stored on paris is replicated, and none should be
unavailable during the outage.

As always, the consult instance will receive updates regarding the
status of the outage.
