m2-225-11 rebooted (spontaneously, as far as i can tell) and hung during
package verification after printing the message
memory.c: 84: bad pmd 000000001
(not quite sure how many 0's were there.)
i rebooted it. it went some way through the boot sequence (even past
the package verification,) then started repeated printing

Loading linux..................
i think (and memtest86 confirms) this machine has faulty memory.
