Dear Colleagues,
Please note that on Tuesday, April 9, the Department of Facilities has
scheduled the removal of a water meter and pipe fittings from a water main
near Mass. Ave and Vassar Street, which services the main campus.
Usually when this type of work is performed, the minerals and salts deposits
that have adhered to the inside of the pipes get disturbed and tend to break
away which causes a discoloring of the water. This may show up in the form
of brownish water when a faucet is first turned on. If this happens, allow
the water to run clear before using it.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the project manager,
Raul Varela, varela@plant.mit.edu.
Regards,
Ruth
