Avarice has been freezing up every day or two for at least the last
week. It has been rebooted 7 times since the 4th of May; I don't know
that all of these have been due to the freezing, but I suspect they
have.
There are no clues in /usr/adm/messages.
Freezing symptoms are:
machine found in Xlogin's screensaver, clock not running
no keypresses will bring it out of the screensaver
machine accepts connections, such as finger, but doesn't
respond to them; i.e., finger hangs
reactivate cycles do not occur (there is customization at pika
that causes something to be logged in messages upon
reactivation; these entries stop about the time the
Xlogin screensaver clock is frozen at)
machine *does* respond to pings
Rebooting it lets it run another couple of days.
Thanks,
Craig Fields
