There will be an outage of the sipb.mit.edu AFS cell beginning
at 1am Monday 7/17 (late Sunday night). During this time, each
fileserver in the cell will be rebooted in turn. Once this work is
complete, there will be a cell wide outage when the database processes
on all the servers are simultaneously restarted.
During the outage, clients may experience "afs: lost contact
with fileserver xx.xx.xx.xx in cell sipb.mit.edu" console messages, and
data stored only on a single fileserver will be inaccessible while that
server is rebooting; this affects the outland locker, but will not
affect the sipb locker, which is replicated.
As always, notifications of the status of the outage will be
sent to the "consult" instance.
