As of 1:00 PM on Thursday 6/1/2000, Cambridge Electric Company is
experiencing a shortfall in their electric generating system. In the
event of further loss of generator capacity, Cambridge Electric will be
forced to do a short term curtailment of electric power to the main MIT
campus.
If this shut down does occur, it will happen within the next 45 minutes
(sometime before 2:00 PM today). The curtailment of power should not last
for more than 10 minutes.
Emergency power will be supplied to the main campus by the MIT Power Plant
in the event that this happens.
For further information, call Roger Moore, Superintendent of Utilities in
the Department of Facilities, at 617-293-8262 or 253-2347.
Thank you.
