Hello Athena Cluster folks -
I leave the decision on this one up to you. Jhawk is well known
to IS staffers as an alum, SIPB member, and frequent contributor
of suggestions re the Athena environment. The decision rests on
how much your group would be inconvenienced. If the answer is
yes, please reply to both jhawk and to me. If no, you can answer
to me and I'll pass the message on to him.
Naomi

Subject: late: movable indy for 6.270?
From: John Hawkinson <jhawk@MIT.EDU>
Hi, I know this is at variance from normal policy; I guess it is a
favor-request. This morning a 6.270 organizer asked me if 6.270 was
going to be multicast on the MBone again this year, and I indicated
that no one had asked me about it and I'd been busy and had not
planned to; I was asked to see if it could happen anyhow.
I need a machine with a frame grabber to multicast from, therefore.
Could I therefore borrow the rolling Indy for use in 26-100 on Thursday,
27 Jan, from 4pm through 10pm?
I realize this fails the requirements of "regularly scheduled class,
one week in advance, normal business hours, etc." If it would assist,
I can likely suborn an I/S staffer with access to the movable Indy to
let me in to obtain and return it during those hours, or lock it in the
alarmed 26-100 projection booth for return Friday AM.
If this doesn't seem likely, please do let me know soonish so I can
try to pursue other options for obtaining such a machine.
Thanks again!
