Hi Lou and others-
Lou you may recall that I asked you to check m56-129-8 and 13 a while back
and there was no indication of any hack. Can you please check again. I am
not on campus but have access to email and stay logged on until at least
10. I'd appreciate it if you could check the machines and let me know wht
the status is. Thanks.
Joanne

>Hi Joanne,
>some time ago I contacted you about two workstations in building 56
>cluster which had a funny logo. I was afraid the workstations had been
>hacked and I did not use them for a while. Also, I changed my password
>in case my account had been compromised. However, I am still working
>in the same cluster and 'funny' things happen on my screen as I work.
>Windows pop up which I have never opened, my Maple session was killed
>unexpectedly twice and I lost all my morning's work. Could it be
>possible that the person (Petros Komodromos)
>that I suspect had been doind the hacking is
>still getting access to my account, or logs in as root as I work and
>is doing these things? Is there a way to check if the machines in this
>cluster have been hacked?
>I worry very much and I also told the campus police about this,
>particularly because if this person has access to my account he could
>be doing mischief, sending insulting emails to people that I know bearing my
>email name, etc., in short trying to harm me. I know that he is
>capable of doing it and has been trying for months to get revenge
>because I got a restraining order against him.
>I have contacted my
>professors and friends and have told them that there is such
>possibility but still this is potentially a terrible thing that could
>be happening.
>Of course, all these are suspicions but the facts are that funny
>things are happening while I work in the computer. I do not want to go
>from cluster to cluster, being always afraid.
>Please let me know if these machines could be checked.
>THank you in advance
>Caterina
