hi.
this machine that i'm on has VERY slow file access (takes 20-30 seconds to load a one page text file
into emacs) file for some reason or another.
this is true at least for AFS files.
A friend mentioned that he too had the same symptoms on this machine.
rebooting it didn't help.
thought you'd like to know.
