Loss of data

Today I seem to be loosing data from the following files:
locker: 6.170
/mit/6.170/groups/se02/src/computer/*
This happened the second time today. Also, the owner of the files has
somehow became root instead of me. This is very annnoying. A few minutes ago
computer.clu file has became trancated by about a half! Is it a disk problem?
I do not believe I did anything to provoke such a bizzare behavior.
