Problem reported: smudgy print.
Action taken: needed a fuser assembly and transfer roller. I figured that I
might as well install one of our maint kits because the kits come with a fuser
assembly, transfer roller and pickup rollers, just made sense to install the kit
being as it needed everything that was in a kit. I would reset the maint kit
page count so that you don't install one later when it really will not need one.
I installed the maint kit and the finishing page count was 140465.
Serial number and location of printer: usbb137132, 38-600.
Part used:maint kit-C206267901.
PC Service log number: R7170.

Date: 4/19/96
Problem reported: blinking LED's, randomly restarts.
Serial number and location of CPU: 0800690926da, 37-312.
Action taken: replaced power supply and Z video board and mother board.
Parts used: 060-0008-001, 030-8234-002, 030-8123-016.
PC Service log number: R7049.
Notes: This was a second attempt to repair this CPU. The first repair I replaced
the power supply and had resolved the problem, NOT! Yesterday I noticed that it
needed another power supply. No matter what I put into it for parts it would
still fail. Being the technical genius that I am (no laughing) I finally traced
the power cord of the CPU to the surge suppressor and noticed that the power
cord was half way out. Needless to say the unit was not getting the power that
it needed and kept blowing power supplies and hence would never boot up all the
way because of the weakened power supplies. When I finally got the unit to boot
it needed a video board and mother board as well (failed diags). I also noticed
that the networking cables and transceiver is dangling between the two SGI's and
all the tension from the weight is put on the network connections of the
motherboards. You folks may want to check it out.

Cheers!
scott
