Dearest Athena,
After replacing and rebuilding the whole pinter (thanks lou) I have yet
to get a perfectly matching front to back duplex print job. I have called HP
tech support and they have no real answers to give me. They also claim that you
can't get a perfectly matched front to back print job when it's sent through the
duplex assembly. I have however seen duplex print jobs that matched up a whole
lot closer than the ones I'm getting from the four printers that are in
question.
I'm sure those anchor pads are the cause of the problem. I think that as
time goes on the bottom housing and duplex assembly becomes bowed. The foot base
of the anchor pad is much smaller that the foot base of the printer, hence after
time you get a bowing affect. I know this is the case with pandora because the
new duplex assembly would not line up with the mounting brackest.I actually had
to push it down in order to install it for testing. The other thing I noticed is
that the anchor pad is only glued onto a thin piece of sheet metal (not a whole
lot of support). It also appears that the original botoom housing which is meant
to support the printer was taken off for anchor pad installation. Is thier any
chance that we could come up with some sort of a cable security device that
would actually "secure" them?
