(I found this mentioned in hotline [32144] as well, but apparently
it's acting up again..)
1-115-5 (the noisy workstation) is powered off again. I found it in
that state, powered it on, heard an odd noise apparently coming from
the microphone on the side, noticed that the microphone had some
exposed copper wire on it, unplugged the microphone, and the noise got
louder and transferred to the speaker. It sounds like a
white-noise/static sort of hiss, and it seemed to be causing a fair
amount of airflow from the speaker area as well. Since we couldn't
get it to stop (even after experimenting with the volume in audiotool,
etc) we shut the machine down again.
