I tried to customize with new root password:
	i edited /etc/athena/rc.conf
	i ran /bin/passwd as root
when i reboot the machine:
	the customized root password is forgotten;
	a message appears saying the machine is in the middle of an
  		update and that I should contact you.

The customized root password is not forgotten unless i reboot.

In case it makes a difference, at one point before this happened i ran
/etc/mkserv suninstall, and it started installing the 7.7 stuff and i
thought i made a mistake so i stopped it with ^C and that was probably a
bad thing to do.

Thanks,
