external drive on maya not working

A Lynn Reid called to say that she has a VS3100 with (2) external drives
1-disk 1-tape, but it only boots up with the tape drive. The vs3100 is running
Athena and when she hooks these drives up on any other Athena system they both
work.
ossible Controller problem.
