Problem: while picking up some output, it seemed that NIL
was making some loud noises. Maybe it's me, maybe my hearing,
but the noise was enough to notice...kind of like a loud
continuous whining noise (like a plane engine before takeoff.)
It doesn't make the noise when it prints, but it makes the
noise when it's idle.
