Problem: Broken floppy disk drive
Machine: VaxStation 3100
Machinename: muck.mit.edu

Location: Third athena workstation on left in 48-206.
Error messages: when you try to read a properly formatted disk on this machine,
the following error message arises (after the light goes on and the disk whirrs):
athena:~> dosdir
could not read FAT
Also, the console gives the error:
sd2:HARD ERROR: compare error
I know that the floppy disk is not the problem because the VaxStation 3100 to the
right of muck works fine (e.g. reads and writes to the disk),
as does every other DOS machine.
Thanks for your prompt attention -- I can't back up my thesis!
