We are having problems with out machine located in bldg 37-084 (in the
basement of building 37). The machine name is "telac.mit.edu".
When I tried to log-on, I received a message
"Workstation failed to activate successfully ,
Please notify the Athena operation ..."
I tried to reboot the machine twice, but it didn't seem to help.
We had this problem before back in October last year. I believed the problem
at that time was the TRANSCEIVER box. One of the HOTLINE personels
(I believe his name is Lou) stopped by and fixed the problem.
In the past few months, the problems arrised sporadically and could
usually be fixed once the cable connection was checked and tightened and the
machine rebooted. I also check the SYSERR files and the files usually
contained information about "losing contact with the file server or
volume server". I have been unsuccessful to do it this time.
Please give me a call if you are going to send somebody. My phone number

of building 37).
