m4-035-6 logins bomb repeatedly, even with "Ignore Customizations"

Hi,
When I try to login to m4-035-6, the console window fills up with the
usual messages through "Session initialization completed." and then displays
"xterm: Error 15, errno 22: Invalid argument". If I try to put up a
new window with the left button menu option "New window" it gives me the
same error. If I try to put it up with the right button menu option "Xterm"
it gives the same error. In no case does it actually put up an xterm window.
Logging in with "Ignore Customizations" selected still results in
these errors.
I have not experienced this problem on any other machine, so I assume
something is wrong with m4-035-6 specifically.
