Could you check this machine and make sure that the software hasn't
been played with? I doubt it, but it might be worth checking. If I
were going to write a trojan horse xlogin, it would probably work like

What's wrong:
Actually, I don't think there's anything wrong. It's just that the screen was blank(white) for an unusually long time(like 10-20 sec.), then the message "Incorrect Password" was displayed. Normally, when I make a mistake when entering the password, I get the "Login Failed" message. I also think that I actually entered the right password. When I tried it again, everything was fine.
