If a workstation is "loosing" packets, it can mean that
there's a prblem with its connection to the network. The
cable can be loose or broken, or something might be wrong
with the ethernet board inside the system.
e25-137 is setup for remote access, so I telnet'd in
and ping'd it from itself...it didn't seem to be dropping
any packets.

As Ezra pointed out, this has to do with a srvtab. Actually
there is a srvtab on hippocrates, but it's empty:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root 0 Apr 23 1992 /etc/athena/srvtab
Since e25-137 had 'mkserv remote' run on Apr 29 (judging from
the /etc/athena/version file), and since the same complaints
are in all the /usr/adm/messages files, my guess is that
e25-137 has been logging them ever since last April.

reported packet loss. Sorry.
