Colleagues,
This is to announce the formation of a task group comprised of staff from
DCNS-Distributed Applications, and other groups in IS and MIT, which over the
next 6 weeks will develop specific recommendations related to developing and
providing distributed computing & value-added application services for FY92 and
beyond. Some of these applications will become the core work product of the
DCNS-apps, and related groups, for FY92.
We seek and encourage volunteers from other areas of IS & MIT to join us in this
important effort.
The first meeting of this task group will be held in E25-202 next Tuesday, April
30 at 2:00.
The task group's report will be made available throughout IS and MIT for review
and comment during June. The applications that we seek to identify will support
the needs of students, faculty, researchers and staff for their full gamut of
activities. During the Fall of 1989, a similar task group produced a report of
recommendations for network services & applications. We suggest that you
acquaint yourself with that task group's report for the general format of what
the new group should aim to produce.
