Believe it or not, that won't be too much of a problem; there are ways
of dealing with the compatibility issue (if necessary, in the same way
as the VAX and RT). However, there is currently no Ultrix 4.2 install
base and the update procedure has not yet been determined for this
platform. Various incompatibilities will be arising such as the change
in the @sys value, differences in network code, no more ability to
remotely run dxpsview, and several other changes.
There may still be a draft copy of the System Release Notes floating
about, however, it is still in draft form and far from being complete
(the comment about changebars will not apply to draft copies). For
those who are extremely concerned, a limited number of copies can be
made available; however, I am trying to limit distribution as it does
not yet reflect the contents of the release (and is not necessarily
accurate either with respect to the submitted software or the various
ports).
