Subject: another new staff member coming
Date: Mon, 17 Jan 1994 16:44:10 EST
From: Bob Scheifler <rws@x.org>
Ralph Swick (swick@x.org) will be joining us as a senior staff member
starting January 31.
Ralph comes to us from Digital. As many of you know, Ralph spent 5 years at
MIT's Project Athena, on loan from Digital's Corporate Research and
Architecture organization, and was Manager of Advanced Development at Athena
in 1990-91. Ralph was instrumental in the design and implementation of Xt and
the Athena widgets, and was chief architect for Xt from late 1988 until late
1991. He also worked on Kerberos while at Athena. In a real sense it feels
like Ralph is coming "back home", because we worked so closely together while
he was at Athena. Since the termination of Athena, Ralph has been a Principal
Engineer in an advanced development group at Digital working on information
management and computer supported collaborative work applications. Ralph will
focus on inter-client integration and communication, but will have his fingers
in many of our projects.
Having grappled with the issue of staff titles :-), we've arrived at:
Ralph Swick: Technical Director, Integration Technology
Matt Landau: Technical Director, Application Toolkits
