Announcing the MacDev User Group
--------------------------------
MacDev is a user group for members of the MIT community who are developing (or
are interested in developing) Macintosh applications.  The particular emphasis
of this group is on developing network-based (MacTCP) applications.  MacDev is a
user group run by its members.  There is lots to be done.  We need people to:

o recommend additional software & resources
o figure out how to get access to shared file space
o make documentation available
o organize contests and prizes
o organize and run the MacDev promo campaign
o find a place for code samples
o and much more.

Come to the first meeting on Tuesday, March 16 from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm in 
E40-302 (the Visitor Center).


Monthly Meetings
----------------
MacDev meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm in room
E40-302.

Presentation & Q/A			4:30-5:15

Informal Discussion & Refreshments	5:15-6:00

MacDev meetings provide an opportunity for Macintosh developers to share
information and for new developers to learn from more experienced develops.
Meetings are open to all.


Mailing List/Discuss Meeting
----------------------------
The MacDev mailing list is macdev@mit.edu.  You can add your name to the list
yourself via moira, blanche, or mailmaint, or send a request to become a 
subscriber to macdev-request@mit.edu.

The list is also archived as a discuss meeting on:
menelaus.mit.edu
/usr/spool/discuss/macdev

The macdev list is for announcements of interest to Macintosh developers at MIT
and for questions and discussion related to Macintosh development.


Software Toools
---------------
MacDev provides the resources to the MIT community for developing
Macintosh-based applications with particluar emphasis on network-based (MacTCP)
applications.

Software will be available for developers to use on the Macintoshes in the
Public Mac Cluster (room 2-032).  The following restricted software will be
available on the cluster keyserver:

THINK C
Think Reference
MPW Suite (includes SADE, MacsBug, SourceBug, BalloonWriter, and ResEdit)
MacTCP Developers Suite


Documentation
-------------
Documentation for these tools will be available, including Inside Mac.
