Hi. I'm Hoony Youn and I'm working in the Media Lab and I need advice on what I should do. Here's the scoop:
In my lab, we have a network of Macintoshes and one IBM PC. Our main objective is to send digital maps over a network. We wish for the pc to be used as a file server to the macs. When a request is made (from the mac) with the given inputs such as lat/lon coordinates, range, and generalization, the pc will take thatrequest with the given inputs and process the map into a postscript file. Finally we want the mac to retrieve that file from the pc using ftp.
As of now, we are able to ftp files back and forth and we can process the map into a postscript output, but only when we input the info from the pc.
Has anyone done this type of thing before? Does anyone have any information that might help me speed up the process of developing this type of network?
Thanks.
Hoony Youn
