The X-based clients require some significant work before they're usable
by people who don't already know how wais works. Telephone directory
users may not want to sit down and discover how wais works in order to
obtain a single telephone number. The difficulty with learning WAIS
from the X based package could be reduced significantly if the
documentation covered the crucial things like how to turn a reference to
a doc into an index, and how to get rid of all the superfluous windows
that pop up.
