You are all invited to a demonstration of a prototype Macintosh Discuss
client. Discuss is an electronic bulletin board for network computers.
It allows users to hold discussions on topics of interest, and also to
archive the messages for later retrieval. Discuss is widely used in
Project Athena, and the Macintosh Discuss client will provide Discuss
access to Macintosh users connected to the MITnet.
The meeting will consist of a demonstration of the prototype and a
discussion of its functionality and user-interface.
A README file, a brief intro to the client (available after Monday), and
a binhex version of the application can be obtained from the following
locations:
From Project Athena:
in the /mit/macathena/MIT/appl/discuss/src/MacDiscuss/doc directory.
By anonymous ftp:
from athena-dist.mit.edu in the /pub/discuss/macintosh directory.
Via Appleshare:
from "web's limey mac" in the dapps zone in the Discuss folder.
While running the Macintosh Discuss client, be sure to frequently save
any documents, email, or whatever you may have open simultaneously.
Since it is an early version and does contain some bugs, it may crash
your Mac.
