Furthermore, Washington is basically a Company Town. Nothing surprising
here, but it is always essential to remember this. 98% of the town's
professionals are interested in ensuring continuing employment, expansion,
and empire-building.
Not at all surprising from either a modern, biological point of view, e.g.,
traits which enhance reproduction tend to be reinforced, or even from a
Nietzschean perspective, the "will to power."
Interviews are granted to those who enhance this will to power, this
survival and self-reproduction tendency.
(No different out here. Just this afternoon I turned down a chance to be
"quoted" in some sort of "Wired News" piece...living out here on my
mountaintop gives me the freedom and inclination to say "Fuck You" to
journalists wanting sound bites to Feed the Ratings Machine.)
Declan will either turn into a tame lapdog like Cokie Roberts, clucking
about the anarchy of the Net, or will be spit out into the Real World.
