John Young / JYA Pipeline provides the following:

In the plea bargain offered to CJ quoted in the above it states of the
rights CJ waives by agreeing:

: 7. Restitution. The defendant understands that in addition to any
: term of imprisonment and/or fine that is imposed, the Court may
: order the defendant to pay restitution to victim(s) of the offense,
: as required by law. Furthermore, the defendant herein expressly
: agrees that he owes restitution in the amount of $277.25 to
: reimburse the Government for medical expenses that were incurred
: when he physically assaulted IRS Inspector Bruce Mason at the time
: of his arrest in connection with the instant charge.

So, this "assult" caused me to remember this (quick grep verified):

> JOHNSON is arrested by Inspectors. The SIA uncovers 11 computer
> disks. JOHNSON spits in Inspector MASON's eye.

(From an earlier government document on CJ JYA posted.)

So, if I get this right, it cost the government $277.25 for a tissue
to rub the spittle out of IRS Inspector Bruce Mason's eye. There is a
rough rule of thumb that it costs government twice as much to do
anything, due to the lack of competition, and lack of incentive for
efficiency, and down-right corruption, but this is ridiculous! It
reminds one of the bungled operation against Phibre Optic (was it him
or another phreaker?), where he got accused of costing the phone co. x
million in damages for leaking information which was available in
published form for $15 or some such.

I can only assume that the rest of the governments arguments in CJs
case are of similar accuracy.

CJ's reply? (with the assistance of co-SEATAC resident Dale
L. Thompson # 28318-086):
