It's that time of year when we're scraping together our year's worth of receipts, W-2s, 1099s, and whatever else we have, and we're hauling them out to the dining room table in tackle boxes, shoe boxes, folders (or in handfuls). For some of us, the process of organizing, sorting, cataloguing, and filing is under way. For the rest of us, the process of procrastinating is under way. Either way, the Internet provides great help (or much-needed distraction) this tax season.

<B>Introducing The Digital Daily</B> Informative tax sites abound on the Internet this year. Among them is the IRS site, which, as you might expect, is quite comprehensive. The IRS has created <A HREF=http://www.irs.ustreas.gov/prod/cover.html?cp=lef19st01>The Digital Daily</A>, a tax publication whose motto is "Faster than a speeding 1040-EZ." From the daily newsletter, which functions as a portal for the IRS site, you can link to several interesting areas. </TD>

In the words of the IRS, it's about "How it's spent. Where it comes from. And just how many millionaires are there, anyway?" Other areas include tax information for individuals and businesses, taxpayer help, and an extensive list of publications.

If the mere thought of going to the IRS web site makes you sweat, you canhead over to another tax site, Netscape's <A HREF="http://home.netscape.com/finance/taxes/index.html?cp=lef19st03">Tax channel</A>. Sponsored by <A HREF=http://home.netscape.com/finance/citi/tax_services.html?cp=lef19st04>Citibank</A>, which offers special, tax-related home equity offers to Netcenter members, the Tax channel is the newest addition to the Netscape Personal Finance site.
