We've got a batch of docs on CJ's case from Western
WA but haven't yet digitized them. Here's a brief take:

One is a long "report of investigation" written by Jeff Gordon
which compiles a series of reports and memoranda from April
21 to December 10, 1998: interviews, evidence, documents,
disk searches, statements, exhibits. It lists the people who've
been interviewed or have provided statements and what they
said or declined to say. Lots of messages to list cypherpunks
and Internet postings are included by reference -- at least two
by this co-suspect.

According to the report the case began on April 21, 1998 with
an RCMP identification of "Carl Johnson as the subscriber of
an Internet account which involved threatening activity."

As background it ties CJ to Jim Bell's case. And goes on with
a review of messages to cpunks about Jim. That leads to a
review of threatening messages posted to cpunks. The rest
is a history of tracking the messages leading up to CJ's arrest,
and subsequent investigation.

The full report is apparently some 300 pages, including exhibits,
of which we got about 70 pages without the exhibits.

Then there's a copy of the plea bargain CJ refused to sign,
and the superceding indictment made against him for refusing
to do so: a devil's list of charges ranging from "obstruction of
justice by threat of death against a judicial officer" to "threatening
communications in interstate or foreign commerce." A letter
to CJ's attorney lays out the sentencing guidelines for these
offenses: "a range of 70 to 87 months." And further threatens
CJ with "an upward departure based on additional threats to
Bill Gates and others."

We'll try to get these online in a few days, along with hilarious
commentary on them by the sender,
