FEBRUARY KOOK OF THE MONTH: GARY BURNORE!
The final Usenet Kook of the Month award with us in charge goes to a
neo-Nazi jackass named Gary Lee Burnore of Raleigh, N.C., who--wait a
minute here. We're insulting poor, sensitive little Gary Burnore when we
should be coddling his inflated ego and defending him from those big, mean
people on Usenet who say such rotten things as, "Another of Burnore's lies
exposed," and, "Gary Burnore is a psychotic Aunt Bea impersonator." After
all, Burnore is (in his own mind) a victim of society who just needs a
little love and dignity.
All together now, 1-2-3: AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
Burnore harasses newsgroup dissidents because--oh my, what a
surprise--they disagree with him. When he threatened users of alt.zines
last month, we forwarded his post to the abuse department of the Internet
service he uses--Databasix. Lo and behold, it turned out that he owns
Databasix. Using the indispensible lookup tool found at
http://rs.internic.net/cgi-bin/itts/whois, we find databasix.com to be
administered by none other than--Gary Burnore.
Almost immediately, Databasux responded to the complaint with a
nasty, bombastic jeremiad which was sent to us, Burnore, and our ISP
(which was instructed to reprimand us for daring to lodge a complaint
against Burnore, which it so far hasn't done). We responded to Databasix
in kind, and they flooded my e-mail box with more bombast, which seemed to
threaten to cut off our ISP from the rest of the Internet unless they
revoke our account. We replied again, and predictably, Databasix quickly
shot back, accusing us of "harassment".
Now, we all know that only a real spoilsport would say that what
Burnore and the rest of the AUK Phunny Pharm do--such as posting
defamatory messages, sending threatening e-mail, releasing unlisted street
addresses and phone numbers of 'Net enemies, and calling up NKU to place
phony complaints against former students--is harassment. But disagreeing
with Burnore? Now THAT'S harassment!
Burnore even admits to having a criminal record, which he
brandishes like a badge of honor and tries to use as proof of his
political martyrdom: We'll spare you the details, as unbelievable as they
are.
Another web page lists two threatening posts from Gary Burnore in
1996. In one post, Burnore warns one of his foes, "All he has to do is
name an intersection and I'll meet him and greet him with a louisville
slugger." In the other message, he warns an adversary, "Please tell him
he's late for his death."
