The style was quite different from most SF stories.   But I didn't find it to be
the basis for 'Anthem', by Ayn Rand, as you accused (that she essentially
copied/stole/duplicated it).    Although both stories are set in collectivist,
totalitarian societies, the main character's lives were very different -  the
circumstances of their daily activity, their living conditions (no glass houses
in Anthem), their occupations, their discoveries, their relationships with other
characters, the stories' conclusions, all were quite different.   So I didn't
see why you thought she essentially filched it.

Good story anyway, though, standing on its own merit.
