Hi,

While it's true the Austin Cypherpunks may be dead the local cryptography
movement hasn't died!

A new group has arisen from the ashes and begun a series of projects.
This announcement is to let those of a similar interest know how to get
involved if they want.

cpunks.org has registered the domain name and currently are in the process of
building a database server. This server is intended to provide the
cryptographic community with a single point contact for a variety of
resources. We currently have several gigs of crypto software and will become
an official (nay, the only) mirror of the respected jya.com archive. Besides
crypto we also hope to support archives of legal, civil liberty, computing,
quantum physics, etc. The only criteria is that it is relevant to
cryptography, civil liberties, and economics. If all goes well the first
server should go online within the next couple of weeks.

We have scheduled our first bi-monthly meetings for this Wed. at 7pm. The
location will be The Farm. If you have an interest in this subject or would
like to work on a large distributed internet database project then please
contact farmers@navigo.com or myself for further information.

A second project we are working on is in need of both volunteers and help
with funding. The goal is to place the RSA in 3-lines of Perl in major city
newspaper personal sections on July 4, 1999. We hope to hit the following
cities:

Austin
Houston
San Antonio
Dallas
Fort Worth
Amarillo
El Paso
Pasaden

We have volunteer funding for 3 - 4 of the above. The volunteer would agree
to locate and arrange for delivery of the text and payment with a suitable
large distribution newspaper (usualy there's only one) in their selected
cities.

The other question is where is it possible to get arrested for handing out
unlicensed or permitted pamphlets (The Constitution of the US) on public
property in Texas?
