Nellis AFB in the Las Vegas area is sort of the stealth capital of the
universe. Fallon Naval Air Station to the east of Reno is now the home of
the Top Gun school. The only other need of computing power in Nevada is
the casinos. The last computer genius who specialized in random number
manipulation could take down a slot machine for $5000 10 minutes from the
time he walked in the door by predicting the next play after watching for
five minutes. From inside info he had found the weak links in the random
number generators which are always manipulated not to be truly random. It
looked easy, but really it took a hidden video camera in his pager that was
linked to a laptop in a van in the parking lot and that was linked to a
radio hearing aid where someone read him the correct moves. It was a long
and messy trial. Front page news. He got seven years. Should be out soon.
