From Tim May:
: Digging up one of Peter Shor's papers on quantum computing at
: UC Santa Cruz was a better use of my time than watching a guy who makes me
: wonder "What ever happened to Jim Bell and Carl Johnson and their plans to
: assassinate these bozos?"
............................................................
Well, I had it playing on RealNetworks in a corner of my pc while I was working on some routine
things, so it wasn't a total waste. I watched it from curiosity and for the exercise in analytical
psychology. He looked as though he was really enjoying dishing it out, probably imagining how some
people were suffering from it (I heard that some congressmen walked out during the speech. It was
hard to listen to, I must say.)
But, like I said, it was more the audience reaction which affected me. What is the threat from
someone like Clinton, when there are no followers? But if those around him do not, or cannot,
understand the problems with, the consequences of, his proposals; when they think they're the best
thing since sliced welfare tokens?
What are you going to do with those quantum computations?
