Whoops! You are completely right of course I was confusing the Royal Mint
which mints coins for foreign governments as well and the UK with banknote
printing which in England at any rate is done by the Bank of England.  (And,
of course, Scottish and Northern Irish banks can print their own money even
though English banks aren't allowed to). My fault, should have checked, I
wrote "Royal Mint" without thinking. I somehow suspect they take security
seriously of course...
