I guess email is the only way to touch bases in this modern society! I am
sorry that we could not connect via the telephone.
Your antenna's are only partly right. No, I was not planning to ask you for
a big gift at this time. But, I do want to engage you more with MIT and the
department and keep you posted on our ambitions and dreams. I would like
to ask for your help, for your input and for your participation, when the
opportunity arises again, in the Visiting Committee. My idea was to have a
get re-acquainted meeting, with Jim and Hank Spaulding who are members of
the VC. And yes, ultimately I would hope to convince you that in the future
the ideas of the department and MIT, their needs and aspirations, are
worthy of your generosity. In the meantime, though, I still want you
involved! Thanks.
