If I may, here's all I ask for:
1. The either non-subscribers be allowed to post or that there be two
kinds of subscription: a) full subscription and b) partial
subscription, meaning that a partial subscriber has the right to post
but does not receive copies of any e-mail sent to the list.
2. That there be a web archive of the mailing list, using hypermail,
monharc, or whatever archive software you prefer.
Do make sure that To/Cc/Message-Id/Subject/Date headers are included
in the archived posts so that one may compose responses to archived
posts correctly (e.g., without breaking threading).
Alternatively, have an archive feature whereby selected posts are
remailed on request. I.e., a 'mail-me-this-post' button on the
archive pages.
Essentially, I like to follow mailing lists through web archives and
thus avoid having to deal with those mailing lists in my mailbox or
having to maintain procmail filters for them.
