Let me amuse you with something I stole
from StayFree! newspaper from Chapel Hill,NC
Product: Coco-Puffs
Mascot: Sonny, the Coco-Puffs bird
Behaviour pattern: Upon hearing the name of the
cereal, he flies into uncontrollable fits of
frenzy, rhythmically chanting "coo-coo for
Coco-Puffs," (revealing an wareness of condition)
causes physical and emotional harm to others and
property damage, eyes take on a spiral pattern
and often must be restrained with a straightjacket.
Condition: Tropenkohler or Misala
Kisker (1964) notes: "Victims of these disorders
start quarrels and rapidly work themselves up to
a state of frenzy of speech and gesticulation...
the attack, which may last anywhere from a few
minutes to a few hours is followed by utter
exhaustion."
Product: Trix
Mascot: Trix Rabbit
Behaviour Pattern: Obsessed with aquisition of
Trix cereal despite knowledge that Trix is
designed for human children (Trix are for Kids);
deceptive to self and others, lies pathologically,
changes personality to increase chances of cereal
aquisition, loss of sense of right/wrong, social
mores.
Condition: Obsessive-Compulsive Reaction.
OC reactions are gross exaggerations of the
common tendency to dwell on the same idea...In
the neurotic form, these ideas or actions...
monopolize the mind, restrict the personality,
and interfere with everyday activites.
Product: Lucky Charms
Mascot: Lucky the Leprechaun
Behaviour Pattern: Consumed by the desire to
protect Lucky Charms as though the cereal were
of immense value: has deluded self into
believing that the worth of Lucky Charms cereal
is phenomenal.
Condition: Scotoma. Term is applied to a
persistant lack of insight or awareness, such
as the inability to recognize one's true motives
or to consider ideas that conflict with ideas
about one's self...a form of resistance on the
part of the patient to the recognition of truth.
Product: Super Sugar Crisp
Mascot: Sugar Bear
Behaviour Pattern: Well-adjusted, easy going.
Condition: Mild Catatonia.
Product: Kool-Aid
Mascot The Kool-Aid Pitcher
Behaviour Pattern: Desperate for attention: Upon
hearing even passing mention of name, will do
anything to make presence known, often causing
intense property damage.
Condition: Cyclothymic Personality Disorder.
Tends to be extraversive, over responsive,
and socially dependent. Possible to trace mood
to acceptance or rejection by other people. Some
develop characteristic personality pattern to
an especially high degree.
